Hi EducatingMyself I have been visited by three of my old study ladies now...And it has been very nice. I think we all know where we stand so no one brings up anything related to studying...we keep the conversation on a personal basis.
I have no doubt however that they are testing the waters. But hey! Thats up to them. I'm just glad they popped round cause it was lovely to see them.
Maybe yours is aware or has the feeling you want to convert him....I'm sure that would put him off. They are not in the business of being converted...they do the converting.
Do you want to keep in touch because you genuinely like this person? and want to maintain a friendship? Or, is it just to save him from the Watchtower? If it is the latter, I would say. why waste your time, they have their own journey in life and it is not up to you to convert anyone, especially if they don't want to hear it...it is between them and their God.

Is Rev 5:11-14 Worship or Obeisance?
by JCISGOD98 ini asked a jw last week the following question, "is revelation 5:11-14 a worship act to the lamb or an act of obeisance?.
revelation 5:11-14 nwt states and i saw, and i heard a voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders, and the number of them was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: the lamb that was slaughtered is worthy to receive the power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.
because it's an act of worship and it is not allow in your kingdom hall.

Judas and Unforgivable Sin
by corpusdei ini'll be the first to admit that i haven't done the research on this one, and i can't remember the answer from my jw days - but there's something bothering me about the scenario of judas and his betrayal of jesus.. considering that the betrayal of jesus by judas was foretold in prophecy, it was essentially set in stone.
it was going to happen, it was an absolute because divine prophecy is correct.
judas had to betray jesus in order to fulfil prophecy.. now, i've always personally believed that a person does not sin by an act that they cannot avoid, but this seems like kind of the motherload of standing on the traintracks.

ProdigalSon does raise an interesting issue though godrulz. Why can't you believe yourself over what others say, or even how others interpret the bible?
Why wouldn't God guide us individually? I am not sure about the process of writing lead by the spirit. But I do think he has a valid point that no humans have more authority or knowledge than you when it comes to your own personal relationship with God.
I cannot tell you what your relationship is...and likewise, you cannot judge mine or tell me what mine is.

Why are Pantsuits not appropriate according to The Watchtower?
by VM44 inwhy do the jws consider pansuits worm by women not appropriate attire?.
pantsuits are considered appropriate attire in the conservative business world.. secretary of state hilary clinton wears pantsuits quite often.. would pantsuits be considered appropriate for a visit to bethel?
if someone showed up at bethel wearing them, would be be asked to leave?.

The J Dub Culture of Skirt-Wearing
by mummatron inthis is something that has always bothered me.
as a born-in jw i was raised as a little girl wearing skirts and dresses which is clearly quite normal in terms of gender-appropriate clothing.
however, the older i grew, the more i realised that all jw women and girls wore skirts to meetings and when out in fs, but would wear trousers in their everyday life.

I think it did...ha ha. I had a thing about it because I couldn't see any reason for the skirt wearing...and they couldn't show me anything biblical about it I figured it was a stupid idea. The subject did rear its ugly head every so often...but I just said..."whatever"
what a load of........
